Social Studies at Beauchamps

Spring Term 2024 : Internet Safety

As part of our ongoing commitment to safeguarding, this half term will promote online safety both inside and outside of school. We will explore areas such as staying safe online, as well as the impact that social media may have and explore the connection between social media and mental health. The Year 7 Social Studies curriculum will include some lessons looking at online safety and Year 9 will be examining the influence of the media. There will be consideration of ideas such as ‘echo chambers’, the spreading of disinformation and misinformation through social media feeds and the role influencers may play in this. Our shared school vision includes promoting mutual respect and courtesy and so we will also highlight the impact that social media can have on peer on peer relationships as well. This will all tie in with Safer Internet Day in February and the annual themes chosen for this by saferinternet.org.uk.

Beauchamps High School once again lived up to its “outstanding” Ofsted rating as students
celebrated fantastic GCSE results this week. Despite the challenges of the last year, an exceptional
number of students have secured themselves a good pass in both Maths and English, and had a
great deal to be excited about!
Top performing students include Jennifer C, who now goes on to study A Levels which include
English Literature and Fine Art at Beauchamps, Amy and Hannah F who will both stay with us to
study Chemistry and Maths at A level amongst other choices, Emily H, Shireen J, Elena J, Sophie J
(staying on to study Maths, Biology and Sport), Georgia M and Edie T. Rosie M will stay with us to
study Maths, Psychology and English and Tom B will stay with us to study Government and Politics,
Law and Economics.
Congratulations to all of our successful students who have worked so hard over the years – their
perseverance and dedication has been rewarded with a superb set of results and their positivity
over the last two years has been an inspiration to all. We are particularly excited that high
numbers of pupils have chosen to remain at Beauchamps High School and attend the 6th form,
taking advantage of the range of A Level and BTEC courses which we are now offering. Also thanks
to the staff for their efforts and inspiration and to the parents for their continued support.
